For Baby

Before the shoot: Please feed baby 2-3 hours prior and not again until you arrive at the studio. After your last home feeding, do your best to keep them awake. This sounds easy, but can be quite difficult. Try giving them a back, let them kick it with only a diaper, tickle their toes, and even let them fuss for a little bit. This couple of hours before hand helps ensure they are ready for a nice feeding followed by a deep long nap, allowing us to get those squishy, sleepy newborn pictures.

I can't stress that it's so important to do your best to keep them awake!

I keep the Newborn room at about 85 degrees during your session as I want your little one to stay cozy and warm while nude. Parents are welcome to sit in and watch, or enjoy cooler downtime in the lounge area.

Sessions last between 2-3 hours, sometimes longer if baby is a light sleeper, or enjoys snacking! Make sure to bring extra formula if you're not breastfeeding just in case. Your willingness to feed/nurse on demand will ensure a satisfied baby! If you are on a stricken feeding schedule, please let me know.

Bringing a pacifier with you can also be helpful. Even if you haven't used one, having a quick smoothie while I'm posing can work wonders. However, if you would prefer we don't use one, that's okay too!

For Mom & Dad

Photographing the connection between you and your baby is so special. In studio we have the option of classic portraits or more lifestyle in the studio bedroom!

Dads: I love shirtless, but understand it's not for everyone. Other options that work well; a well fitting t-shirt, henley or button up paired with well fitting jeans or neutral pant. Plain and simple colors and patterns work best.

Moms: For Classic Portraits, a simple tank, top or pretty flow blouse photograph well. For reference, studio shots are mostly waist up. In the lifestyle room, we will be getting full body. Dress are gorgeous, but wear what you are comfortable in. Like Dad, stick with neutral tones, soft textures and patterns. Check to be sure that you have well groomed or bare finger nails as your hands will make their way into the images. And please don't worry, I use flattering angles and light to bring out the natural beauty of your family.

For Siblings

Including older brother/sister(s) in your newborn portraits is so special! There are several different posing styles we can do depending on siblings age. Some do show full body, so keep that in mind when selecting an outfit.

Sister(s): A well fitting tank/top paired with a skirt/pants or a simple dress works well. Keep with with the neutral tones or simple, soft pattern or texture. Just as with mom, check nail polish please!

Brother(s): Like Dad, we can do shirtless. If he prefers not, a well-fitting neutral colored t-shirt, henley or sweater works too. Pair that with well fitting jeans or pants and you're good to go. Why do boys have to be so easy!

While in the studio, you will have access to wifi, as well as some snacks and drinks. If siblings will be attending, I suggest bringing some of their favorite snacks and activities that you think will help them pass the time! I am located directly across the street from sunset park, and just down the street from Kangaroo Indoor playground. Both are great options for close entertainment to help break up the time. If the situation allows, another great option is to have the siblings brought down separately, either at the beginning or towards the end, so they are only there a short time.

It is my hope that you come to the studio feeling comfortable and at home. I am truly honored to be able to document this incredible time in your lives and look forward to getting to know you and your sweet baby!
